Question 1

Do I need Planning permission?

For residential properties some works are covered by ’Permitted Development Rights’, which set out how you can alter and extend your house without needing planning permission you can check them here

Securing planning permission doesn’t need to be a daunting prospect, we secure planning permission on over 95% of the applications we make and will guide you through the process.

   
 

Question 2

What are Building Regs?

New building projects are overseen by the local councils Building Inspectors to ensure they comply with the Building Regulations. The regulations ensure that buildings are safe, energy efficient and built to last. The full list of the Approved Documents can be found here

Once we have secured planning permission on your project, we develop the drawings to add construction details and make a Building Regulations Application on your behalf. Once we receive this permission you’re ready to start on site. As the build progresses, an inspector from the council will visit site at regular intervals to check that the works are proceeding in line with the approved drawings.

Do architects just do the drawings? What happens next?

The short answer is no, we can do a whole lot more!

Whilst we can create exciting designs for your project, we can help you realise these ideas by managing the project from start to finish. Our involvement can take away a lot of the stress involved in building projects by having a professional on hand to guide you through the different stages and offer help with the many important decisions involved. We make sure that you have all the permissions you need, and certify the building work so that you can rest assured that the project is being built to a high standard.
